(ConservativeHub.com) – On Friday, April 19, Hillary Clinton appeared in an episode of the “Defending Democracy” podcast in which she argued that former President Donald Trump wants to emulate authoritarian figures like North Korea leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. She further argued that he would try to suppress all opposition and would move against democratic principles.
She argued that Trump was “gaga” over Putin because Putin had done the things that Trump was looking to do. She claimed that what Trump wanted was to kill his opposition, push journalists and his opposition into exile, and be in charge without having anyone to hold him back.
She also said that there were many dangers relating to the aspirations of the former President and urged voters to reject these tendencies.
In 2016, Clinton lost in the presidential election against Trump. According to her, President Joe Biden is older but also “compassionate” and “effective.” In contrast, she argued that Trump is “old” and possibly autocratic.
The remarks resulted in a response from a Trump campaign spokesperson, who shot back that the remarks from Clinton were “delusional.” The spokesperson also claimed that Clinton’s statements were the result of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Despite all of this, there is division in public opinion regarding the fitness and age of those in office. One poll suggested that only 38 percent of likely voters thought that Biden was going to make it through another four-year term. Trump has comparatively faced less media scrutiny about his age despite being only a few years younger than Biden.
