(ConservativeHub.com) – A heckler was protesting while Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams was speaking in New York. The woman reportedly blasted Adams over the way that his administration was treating homeless individuals. According to a report from The Independent, this occurred during a press conference where Adams was set to unveil his efforts remove scaffolding from parts of New York City and start assisting in the city’s business district’s recovery. However, it was his response that ended up raising some eyebrows among the public.
On Monday, July 24, the woman started off by calling out to Adams yelling, “F— you, a–hole!” While the rest of her words weren’t clear in the footage, Adams said she accused him of “messing with homeless people.”
In response, Adams appeared to laugh at the comment and said that a person ought to be “happy if someone wants to make love to them.” Adams did not provide any explanation for his statement but instead proceeded to accept questions from one of the reporters at the press conference on a completely different topic.
In 2021, New York City’s homelessness rates reached the highest they had been since the 1930s. According to data from Coalition for the Homeless, near the end of 2022, there were around 68,884 homeless people out of whom 21,805 were children in the city’s main shelter system.
The Independent reported that Adams also caught headlines at the end of June for his response to someone who interrupted and criticized him during a town hall event over rent prices. He told the person not to be “disrespectful” or “stand in front like you treating someone that’s on the plantation that you own.”
