(ConservativeHub.com) – Nikki Fried, who leads the Democratic Party in Florida, filed an ethics complaint against Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), in which she has accused him of having accepted gifts from his political committee. The allegations stem from the retreat at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach, Fla. While he was there, DeSantis saw a number of GOP leaders and donors.
The Hill reported that records indicated committee Friends of Ron DeSantis had provided over $235,000 in payment to the Four Seasons. The complaint states that there were other spending ventures that the committee handled. These included a $142,000 payment to the Four Seasons Hotel Miami and close to $12,000 at a Miami Dirty French Steakhouse.
Fried said in the released statement that this was a blatant example of DeSantis believing he doesn’t have to abide by the rules. She continued to state that this came at a time when many people in Florida are facing high property expenses, and still DeSantis is enjoying a number of “freebies” from his political donors. She finally added that DeSantis needed to be brought to task for his actions.
The ethics complaint brought by Fried happens to be the second complaint against DeSantis made recently. Make America Great Again Inc. also introduced an official complaint against DeSantis and his “shadow presidential campaign” which they claimed went against state and federal law.
DeSantis’ office has dismissed these filings claiming that they are fueled by politics, The Hill reports.
