(ConservativeHub.com) – In a recent piece, POLITICO senior editor and columnist Michael Schaffer slammed President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden over the recent reports that their dog bit White House staffers.

Major, the former first dog, was previously removed from the White House over aggressive behavior. However, according to recently obtained by the New York Post’s internal Secret Service communication, the new first dog does not appear to be any better. Commander, who is a two-year-old German Shepherd, reportedly bit seven people within four months.

In November 2022, one of the incidents resulted in a Secret Service officer allegedly being bitten on his arm and high being sent to the hospital to receive medical attention.

Schaffer wrote a piece for POLITICO titled “Don’t Blame the Dog. Blame Joe Biden.” In it, he said that the Secret Service should not be forced to cover for the behavior of the first dog. He proceeded to cite one White House staffer who had written in an email that if this had been any other dog, then he would have been “put down.” The staffer added in the email that it was necessary for the dog to be muzzled.

Schaffer argued that pets are not meant to be biting people and that both legally and morally, it was the owner’s responsibility to ensure that their pet was not doing that. He added that for most regular people, the behavior exhibited by the first dogs would have resulted in them getting a visit from animal control urging them to get the situation with their pet under control.

In his piece, Schaffer argued that while Biden keeping a dog that bites is not “corrupt,” but that it may be considered “irresponsible” and “entitled.” He wrote that while the Bidens have attempted to paint themselves as close to regular people, the fact that they have a dog that can get away with repeatedly biting staff shows their status.
