(ConservativeHub.com) – On Friday, August 25, the Chicago Police Department revealed that two women had been injured during a shooting at a game between the Oakland Athletics and the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago.

The Chicago Police Department deputy director of news affairs and communications Tom Ahern stated that authorities were investigating the shooting. The press conference that had been originally scheduled for after the game was canceled as a result of the incident.

In a statement, he revealed that one of the two women, 42, was shot in the leg and had to be transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The second woman, 26, refused to receive any medical attention following the incident.

Ahern noted that after they received notification about the incident, the police force was immediately deployed so that they could ensure the security and safety of those who were still at the game. He added that they never believed that the shooting was the result of an active threat.

Many users took to X, formerly known as Twitter to post videos of panicking patrons who swiftly exited the stadium while there were others who continued to wait for the scheduled Vanilla Ice concert that would occur following the end of the game. However, the concert was canceled later.

It is not yet clear exactly what happened or how someone brought a weapon into the facility. The park does not allow for any weapons to be brought in. According to recent reports, authorities have been investigating whether the 42-year-old woman had the weapon. However, her attorney asserted that she was denying that suggestion. Chicago White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf also revealed on August 31 that police were considering the possibility that the gunshots came from outside the facility.
