(ConservativeHub.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., recently spoke about Amazon’s decision to pause the creation of another headquarters in Virginia. She also slammed those who had previously been critical of her efforts to stop the construction of such an establishment in New York and said they had never apologized for their criticisms of her, according to Fox News. However, some social media users didn’t take kindly to her comments, and quickly hit back.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments came after it was announced that Amazon put a stop to the construction of its second headquarters in Northern Virginia following the company’s decision to make job cuts. In response to a Bloomberg story regarding the pause in the development, the congresswoman tweeted out that she had previously opposed this project coming to New York because “it was a scam of public funds” and yet everyone had attacked her for it.

She added that she was proven to be right in the end and that she would not be apologizing for that.

However, critics have said the move to not have the headquarters in New York City may have robbed thousands of people of job opportunities. Some of these opponents of Ocasio-Cortez took to social media, with one saying that the Representative did not “deserve an apology” and that she should step down from office. Another critic on Twitter quote-tweeted the lawmaker, calling her a “fraud” and a “liar.” A number of others slammed her for bragging about New Yorkers not getting jobs.

In 2020, CEO of Job Creators Network Alfredo Ortiz alleged that Ocasio-Cortez’s efforts to block the project from coming to New York cost the city “25,000 good-paying jobs.”
