(ConservativeHub.com) – Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) in a recent interview on Axios showed hesitance to fully support either President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump, indicating that he was open to seeing “someone fresh” join the race and take over.

As he stated he was a “big believer” in having fresh people and a new generation involved in the race. However, he added that if the United States needed a rematch between Trump and Biden in order for everyone to accept that Biden was “the legitimate president, then so be it.”

The “Terminator” actor added that the US needed new leadership as both Trump and Biden had flaws, and he criticized the politicians in DC for their lack of ability to address important issues facing the nation. As he pointed out, currently it is unclear where Trump will end up legally, and they have no idea what will happen with Biden and if he will really “stay in.” He also stated that it was premature to be discussing polling numbers as they did not know yet whether or not a third candidate would rise up.

In previous statements, Schwarzenegger claimed that he would have made an excellent president. However, the 72-year-old former governor is not legally allowed to join the presidential race as he was born and raised in Austria. Schwarzenegger served as California’s 38th governor from 2003 to 2011 and is a registered Republican.

During the interview, he also pointed out that Americans were looking for a candidate who would unify them, but that it was hard for someone new to emerge in the race when the media coverage was focused on the two leading candidates.
