(ConservativeHub.com) – On Friday, January 5, President Joe Biden delivered a speech to kick off the year ahead of 2024 elections. Now, former First Lady Jill Biden has sat down for her first interview of the year.
Last week, it was announced that Jill Biden would have a sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski during a White House event where they would discuss the 2024 election year, as well as her career and life. The interview was released on Thursday, January 11, and she took the opportunity to offer supportive words for her husband. According to reports, she said she felt Biden’s age was an “asset” thanks to the wisdom and experience it brings him. She added that he’s “the right person for the job” right now. She also expressed her belief that it was extremely important for her husband to win, unwilling to entertain the idea of losing.
Jeffrey McCall, a professor at DePauw University and media critic, argued when the interview was first announced that it was wrong for the First Lady to become a campaign surrogate and that it was a “miscalculation.” He claimed that it was likely that voters would perceive her greater media presence as evidence that she was doing the interviews because President Biden either could not or would not do them.
President Biden’s latest interview was on October 15 during an installment of “60 Minutes” with CBS correspondent Scott Pelley, where the main focus was on the President’s reaction to the Hamas attack against Israel which had occurred on Oct. 7 about a week earlier.
Pelley asked several questions to the President, including asking why he felt so strongly about directly speaking to the families of the American hostages on Zoom and whether getting the American hostages back safely was a top priority.
The interview was criticized by former President Donald Trump, who is leading the Republican primary race. In a post on Truth Social, he claimed that President Biden had been led through the interview like a child and that every question already included the answer.
