( – Over the weekend, former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) pushed back on Fox News commentator Mark Levin, following Levin’s critique of Cheney as “sleazy” in light of accusations that she mishandled the Republican aspect of the House January 6th committee’s investigation.

The situation was ignited by a piece in The Federalist, which leveled criticisms at Cheney for allegedly withholding “exculpatory evidence” that could absolve former President Donald Trump, based on committee transcripts not previously disclosed. The piece highlighted statements from Kash Patel, a national security official who has been vocal in disputing the committee’s conclusions, despite questions about his credibility.

Levin shared the article on X on March 9, accusing Cheney of introducing “Stalinist medicine” against numerous “patriotic Americans.” He also suggested she should be compelled to testify under oath regarding her knowledge of potential witness tampering, censorship, and destruction of evidence, among other issues.

Cheney promptly countered Levin’s accusations, urging him and the author of the article, who she referred to as a “bozo,” to thoroughly review the January 6th report and other specific documents that contradict their claims, including ones that challenge the reliability of Kash Patel as a witness.

Levin retaliated by saying, “I wrote it, moron,” calling her a “pathetic disgrace and demagogue,” accusing her of avoiding public debates with critics like himself.

Cheney clarified her initial remark, stating she was indeed referring to the author of the article Levin promoted, not Levin himself. She quipped that had she been targeting Levin, she would have chosen the term “angry bozo” instead.

This back-and-forth is part of a broader pattern of criticism Cheney has faced from conservatives, especially after her prominent role in the January 6th committee and her vote to impeach Trump, culminating in her exit from Congress.
