Riders Get Stuck After Roller Coaster Breaks Down

(ConservativeHub.com) – On Friday, July 28, a roller coaster at Adventure Island amusement park in Essex, United Kingdom broke down at around 2 p.m. local time. The roller coaster broke down in midair which resulted in rescuers being called on scene to help evacuate guests from the ride.

The amusement park released a statement noting that everyone was taken off the ride within 40 minutes, adding that a highly trained team was in place to help implement the evacuation plan for the ride.

Park officials further added that one of the carriages on the Rage roller coaster stopped midair. All of the passengers that were on the ground were able to be safely returned to the ground so that they could reunite with their loved ones.

One witness spoke about what happened. According to Fox News, they explained that this is one of those rides that goes up and down and through a loop. A different witness noted that during the rescue process, passengers needed to be harnessed and then rescued.

The Rage ride that is located on Adventure Island, Southend, is around 22 meters tall from the top. This was the height that the passengers got stuck in, which resulted in fans being left hanging on the rollercoaster tracks for half an hour or more as rescuers helped bring them down.

Reports noted that the Rage is promoted as the amusement park’s “biggest and best” rollercoaster and that it has a number of twists and loops and is known for its speed.
