(ConservativeHub.com) – Senate Majority Leader Schumer has accused Republicans of perpetuating unfounded rumors that the Biden administration is preparing to ban gas stoves because the administration is unwilling to compromise on spending cuts in order to increase the debt ceiling limit, according to The Hill.
In a statement released on Friday, Schumer said that the first thing to do about this narrative of gas stoves being banned is laugh. This statement was part of a press release sent out by Schumer’s office. He added that this narrative was completely created by the “MAGA GOP.” Schumer then added that the commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety and the Energy Department have both repeatedly denied that there are any plans currently to have gas stoves banned. This is why he noted that this was just an attempt by the Republicans to direct the minds of the American people elsewhere and distract them.
In the statement, Schumer also officially declared that: “Nobody is taking away your gas stove.” He then challenged MAGA Republicans to change how things currently are and to focus on showing the American people just how quickly things can get done.
Schumer’s comments come only a day after centrist Sen. Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Sen. Cruz (R-Tx.) had introduced the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act, The Hill reported.
Manchin in a statement on Thursday had written that it was not up to the federal government to determine how families would be cooking their dinner. He added that they would “fight any overreach by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”
