(ConservativeHub.com) – Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett (R) has claimed that it’s not possible to “fix” gun violence following the latest mass school shooting on March 27 which led to the death of three 9-year-old children and three adult staff members at a private Christian elementary school.

According to a report from The Hill, Burchett said while speaking to reporters that this was a terrible situation, but that it’s not going to be fixed. He then added that criminals would keep doing what criminals do, no matter what. He continued to tell the tale of how his father had fought in World War II, and that his father had told him that if someone wanted to kill you and had decided that they were okay with dying in the process, then there is not “a lot you can do about it.’”

He further added that he did not think that Congress could do much to curb gun violence and that it would only “mess things up.” He finally added that he did not believe it was possible to put an end to the gun violence, but what they should strive to do is “change people’s hearts.”

Burchett was then questioned about how it would be possible for children to be protected in schools, including those like his own daughter. In response, he stated that he had selected to homeschool his daughter.

Education Week reported that so far in 2023, there have been 13 school shootings, and so far, six students and four adults have been killed in the shootings.
