(ConservativeHub.com) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) has introduced a new policy for change of address which will require the proper identification of the customer.

Senior public relations representative James McKean told FOX Business that as part of the address change customers will need to take an additional step. He added that there are several ways in which customers can request a change of address, including through mail, by going to a local retail office, or by filing the request online. In the cases where the customer does not visit a retail location to have their identity verified, or they do not enter the activation code into the relevant part of the application, then the request is not going to go through.

At the same time, a man who says he’s working for USPS created the TikTok page @gbrodgers, which is focused on news and updates about the postal service. The public service announcement posted by the man to the account has since gone viral.

In the video, the man refers to the alterations made to the company’s change of address policy. Previously, those who changed locations were required to submit a “change of address” form through visiting their local post office or making a request online.

However, while the process of filing the request has not changed, the new process requires homeowners to verify their address through a QR code on their email. The delivery man pointed out that the QR code along with their ID should be presented at a local post office for the verification to be completed.
