(ConservativeHub.com) – Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) blasted the Justice Department Wednesday for not pursuing the investigation against former President Donald Trump fast enough, according to The Hill. The Justice Department is currently looking into two separate investigations regarding Trump. One is related to the potential mishandling of classified documents while the second one relates to his attempts to overturn the presidential election results in 2020. Schiff shared his concerns specifically about the election probe.

During an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on “CNN Primetime” he was also concerned about the lack of speed in the Justice Department’s probe and that they were moving “very slowly.”

Collins proceeded to ask Schiff if he was also concerned that the New York grand jury investigation related to the hush money payments made on behalf of Donald Trump did not “have the same merits” as some of the other legal cases that Trump is facing. Schiff, who had led the first impeachment trial against Trump, said that while the Justice Department had proceeded quickly with the investigations into the rioters that entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, they are also at least a year away from more closely investigating Trump’s role and attempts in overturning the election results. He added that this was why other prosecutions have now moved ahead.

He proceeded to say that the Justice Department should have pursued the investigations much faster and with “urgency,” The Hill reported.

In regards to the investigation of the classified documents being met with urgency, Schiff argued that the attempt to overturn the election results is the more serious case.
