(ConservativeHub.com) – James Comer, R-Ky., the chairman of the House Oversight Committee and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, launched a probe into California-based law firm Sher Edling over their climate litigation against oil companies, according to Fox News Digital.

The two lawmakers sent a letter to the law firm’s partners Matt Edling and Vic Sher on September 25, in which they expressed concerns over the company’s litigation that targeted several big energy companies across the nation. They further inquired about the connection between the firm and a top Biden administration official in the creation of climate policy.

According to Fox News, the letter read that while there were people who could use their resources to bring forward cases, it seemed that the climate crusade led by the law firm was being funded by the left-win and radical activists.

The letter said that the firm has been shopping around for the “lawsuits to jurisdictions around the country” attempting to convince them to join what is going to turn out to be expensive litigation. Sher Edling has also agreed to not charge for their legal services unless a settlement is reached against the oil industry, according to the letter.

Comer and Cruz pointed out in the letter that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s acting administrator Ann Carlson had previously worked as a consultant in the law firm before joining the Biden administration. She had previously worked to help raise funds through donations for the firm’s litigation. Actor Leonardo DiCaprio had also been involved, according to Fox News.

After joining the administration, Carlson brought forward tougher fuel efficiency regulations that experts have argued would force more Americans to purchase electric cars.
