(ConservativeHub.com) – On April 9, former President Donald Trump’s attorney James Trusty said that there were no other classified documents in former Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trusty told host Chuck Todd that there were no more classified documents or other copies of classified documents in Mar-a-Lago following a report that Trump’s legal team had located and handed over additional classified material including a laptop to investigators.
Trusty said that he can also disclose that the leak regarding the “additional document or several documents that were found in the thumb drive is absurd.” According to sources familiar with the case, an employee of Trump had made copies of a number of sensitive documents, which were discovered by the former President’s lawyers late last year at his residence. These documents were quickly turned in to the Department of Justice.
Trusty claimed that the media has repeatedly focused on the “same mischaracterization” which suggests that there is a hoard of documents that Trump has been keeping at Mar-a-Lago. He further added that he has been working as a prosecutor for 27 years, and for 17 of those he worked for the Department of Justice, and yet he had never seen as many leaks as the ones surrounding Trump’s case.
For this reason, he criticized his previous colleague, special counsel Jack Smith, who has oversight of this case, as well as the Justice Department for their “campaign of leaks.”
