(ConservativeHub.com) – Elizabeth Mirabelli and Lori Ann West, two teachers from California have made two additions to a lawsuit — California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Rob Bonta, the state’s Attorney General — arguing that they were made to lie to parents about their students’ gender concerns, according to a Fox News report.

On January 29, the two filed the amended lawsuit in which they argued that their First Amendment rights were violated by the rules that they were made to follow in the school district relating to gender diverse and transgender K-8 students. According to the filing, the policies of the Escondido Union School District (EUSD) are forcing teachers to assist students who are looking to socially transition, by using their preferred gender-specific names or pronouns.

However, the teachers were also allegedly informed that when speaking with the student’s parents, they were required to revert to using the legal names and pronouns of the students in order to hide from parents information relating to the gender identity of their child.

The lawsuit claims that school teachers are required to accept a student’s assertion regarding their gender identity and to immediately adapt to using the child’s preferred name and pronouns. However, the current policies allegedly do not require that the caretaker or parent be informed about this transition.

The plaintiffs’ attorneys have also claimed that if a concerned parent asks the teachers for information on their child socially transitioning, the teacher must state that this was outside of the scope of what they are permitted to talk about relating to the student.
