(ConservativeHub.com) – Former President Donald Trump appeared to get emotional during his remarks after the Iowa caucus win on January 15 as he praised his wife Melania and her late mother Amalija Knavs.

Fox News reported that following his success in the caucus, Trump took the time to recognize the members of his family, including Melania Trump’s mother Amalija Knavs who passed away recently. He said he wanted to thank his “incredible” wife and her mother. He added that Knavs was “up there” and looking down proudly.

Trump proceeded with praising Knavs noting that she was a very special person and that her death was hard on the family, but that she was amazing. He also thanked her for all the work she had done for their family.

Knavs passed away at the age of 78 on Jan. 9, 2024. She is survived by her husband, Victor, who was also mentioned by Trump in his remarks. Trump referred to the pair as great people and great parents.

Trump shared further the impact that Knavs had on his son Barron and that she had taken very good care of him.
