(ConservativeHub.com) – On Thursday, July 13, Disney CEO Bob Iger blasted Florida Gov. and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis (R) for pushing the idea that the entertainment company was “woke” and had been sexualizing minors. In an interview on CNBC, Iger argued that the entire notion was “preposterous.”

DeSantis has been in a long feud with The Walt Disney Co., following the company’s decision to oppose his legislation which has been dubbed “Don’t Say Gay.” The law prohibits all discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity for children in classrooms up to the third grade.

After that, DeSantis decided he wanted to strip Disney of its self-governing status in the state. Disney then sued DeSantis in response to that effort, accusing the governor of launching a retaliation campaign and hurting the business. Iger said in his interview that he believed it was well within the right of the company to stand against the legislation. The Walt Disney World theme park situated close to Orlando Florida is one of the state’s largest private employers.

In a recent speech, DeSantis argued that Florida was no longer going to “subcontract” its leadership to woke corporations. He proceeded to argue that they stood for children’s protection and against them being sexualized. Throughout his presidential campaign for 2024, DeSantis has frequently attacked Disney and its approach.

Iger, who previously retired in 2020 from being the company’s CEO but was brought back in November till 2026, argued that he didn’t want to see was the company being involved in culture wars. He said that the company’s goal was always going to be on telling great stories and having a positive impact on the world.
